Sonshine Homesteading is a Organic Non-GMO Homestead with the passion to provide a clean and healthy way of life. We grow and sell organic heirloom vegetable and herb plants as well as produce when available. We also sell medicinal herbs, tinctures, and other products. Our mission is to bring the benefits of natures unaltered and clean plants, produce, and products to you, We offer training seminars and information encouraging everyone to embrace the art of growing organic herbs and medicinal plants. How it all started.....
Several years ago we finished building our new home. Dennis had built most of the house himself, and during that time lost weight, got in better shape, dropped his blood pressure medicine and just felt better. Sherrie, started researching Florida Permaculture, and also started researching the ingredients in our foods. Needless to say, it was eye opening. At that time we decided to expand our gardening from a few raised beds to a large plot garden, 75' x 100'. and added more raised beds. Dennis was very use to gardening up north, and ended up having a bit of a "Southern" learning curve. We were having a hard time finding organic, non-gmo vegetable starts and Herbs. So, Dennis started our own seedlings. We also have bees, so we were already pretty much chemical free, now we are 100% chemical free on our property. Once the word was out that we had some extra organic non-gmo hierloom vegetable and herb starts, our little homestead nursery kicked off. Today we raise many different varieties of Herbs, Tomatoes Peppers, seasonal starts such as cabbage in spring and fall, kale, chard, broccoli, brusselsprouts, cauliflower (all colors), eggplants, kohlrabi, the list is long. We try of to offer many vegetables you do not find at the big box stores.
Sherrie the Herbalist
Sherrie is a self educated Herbalist who spends hours researching and sampling recipes for tinctures, salves, balms, and teas.
Dennis The Farmer
Dennis works the gardens, researches the plants and herbs that grow in our zone. He also builds our beds, takes care of our bees, and teaches many of our seminars.
Helpers and Staff
Many of our staff are all volunteer. We belong to barter groups whear members help us at times. We do barter for volunteer labor. It may be assisting in harvest, planting, or just hanging out during retail hours.
